End of Year 2011

My last post to end 2011. I started this blog this year and keeping a blog needs effort. Esp when one is "fighting" to get more time!
But I have always enjoyed writing and now I learn to enjoy to share my thoughts and my little adventures.
I am glad that someone out there appreciates, it does keep me going! :)

This year, I did not take time to send thank yous to my friends and buddies who has been by my side and gave me strength/support for this one year. Somehow things have been pretty busy at work this last 3 months. But here, right now I would like to say thank you to all of you out there who has made a difference in my life. Thank you for coming into my life and the opportunity to be part of yours.

Its been a fairly good year with all the ups and downs but as I age, I learn to forget about the downs and be happy about the ups. Appreciate the little things in life!

So here's wishing all you readers out there, Happy New Year, lets end the year with a bang and start it with a year of Determination, Courage, Love and Forgiveness! Welcome 2012!

Batu Bertengkek

Date : 20 Nov 2011

How to get there :
Travel time : 1.5 hours from Bangsar
Head on towards Jln Kuching then to Rawang, Serendah, Batang Kali, KKB and then finally to Kerling. On this old road, turn right into Kampung Air Panas and then follow the road. At Pelangi Hill Resort turn right to Kolam Air Panas then turn right into a bridge (there is a metal tol) and follow the road till the end. This is where you start trekking in.

Trekking time and terrain :
On moderate speed with some photography - 45 mins
Terrain rating 2/10
Description of terrain :
Once you walk past the metal tol gate, follow the right path. On this path you will pass by a small "cascade" on the left. Just walk along the road and at some point turn right to go into the bush/fern area. After that follow a left fork then will descend at about 70 degrees with loose soil.

At the waterfall :
A tall slim fall about 50 feet in height...
The current can be strong nearer to the fall.
At the lower cascades there are rocks for you to sit on to enjoy some reflexology!

The lower fall, notice the rocks

The main fall

It was an easy trek in with a nice fall at the end. Be warned that as the trek goes through a rubber plantation, there are lots of mozzies!

Lata Makau

Date : 13 Nov 2011

How to get there :
Location : Sg Pertak Village, Kuala Kubu Baru
Once you turn right into Sg Pertak Village, at the T junction turn right
Park your car along the road on the right clearing about 5 mins drive on (alternatively you can drive up to the bridge and see if there is space along the road or not)

Trekking time and terrain :
Cross the first two bridges and then follow the left path at the fork. After that its basically quite clear with visible forks.
On moderate speed with some photography - in and out 5 hours with a short stop 3/4 way point and a main stop at the fall
Terrain rating 5/10
Description of terrain : Fairly flat with short inclines, last part river trekking and also need to climb up a branch (there is no markings)
The fall has a large and deep pool but was shaded from the sun when I was there, hence it was brrrr, cold!

Durian season

Make sure you don't touch this

3/4 way rest stop

Common wild orchids
The main fall
Large pool

The fall is not spectacular but it was a good day out as I stopped hiking for over a month already... it was a small group today and its usually faster this way.

Lea Solanga - The Journey

Many years ago, I attended a seminar (which don't really teach you new things but its good to attend as it may reinforce things you already know or possibly "teach" you to look at things from a different perspective)
So there I was - attending this seminar which till today I have no regrets. Because here, I made some of my very best friends, including two buddies whom till now I know that if I am in trouble at 3am, they would come to my rescue.
I am very blessed to have them walk my path together with me for the past 11 years. Thank you, CF and Denise for always being there for me.
Today as I reflect back on this journey, I felt that I have gained some very valuable words that I must always remember.... so I would like to pen this down
1. If its to be its up to me
2. 100% is possible 100% of the time
3. Life is an enrolment game
4. I honor my words with my actions
5. My vision, commitments and promises dictates my action not my feelings, assessment or evaluation

I must constantly remind myself these words for me to advance and become a better person!
I would also like to share a clip of a song that was dedicated to me while I was walking through the journey, it's said that this song describes me.

December

December is always the best time of the month for me. Most would be in a "happy and holiday mood" - for those who know me, its always double celebrations for me in December.
This year 1 Dec I confronted a friend with my thoughts on what was bothering me. At the end whether it turns out better or not, I do not know but I know for sure that I voiced my opinions.

Sometimes, its good to voice out what's on your mind rather than to keep it to yourself. For me, I usually "brood" over matters and if it settles, I just let it go. But if it does not, then I have no choice but to face it!

So what's your take?
